Creating self - regulated lerners



While many factors influence how much mental effort students put into a given assignment, the value that students perceive in the task is no doubt one of them. They will see the assignment as valuable to the extent that they believe it will help them receive a good grade in the course, obtain a job, achieve success in a career, or learn about something important to them. In these cases, students will work hard to develop a good product. They will not do so, however, if they dismiss it as a meaningless chore or busywork that is not worth their time.
